Wilhelmshaven - Ship Mercedes

Wilhelmshaven is located at the northwest coast of the Jadebusen

Wilhelmshaven is a city in the northwest of Germany. It is located at the northwest coast of the Jadebusen, a big bay at the North Sea. The history of the city is tightly connected with the origins and development of the German navy. Wilhelmshaven´s deep water port is the deepest in Germany and the biggest oil transshipment port in the country. The Jade Weser Port which was opened in September 2012, made Wilhelmshaven independent of the tides and enables it to clear even biggest container ships fully loaded. Wilhelmshaven is host of the Jade Weser Port Cup and the annual Weekend at the Jade.

Wilhelmshaven and the River Jade are a safe area

Day sails and evening sails with the Ship Mercedes take place on the River Jade in a sheltered area.
After passing the legendary Kaiser Wilhelm Bridge and the sea lock, sails are set and we are heading seawards. The Ship Mercedes passes the newly built Jade Weser Port and big container ship cross our way. With a breeze from mostly western directions, the River Jade offers good sailing.
